It's That Time of Year Again

The holidays are upon us, store windows are decorated, Christmas lights are blinking. Well this morning at 6:00a.m.,while I made coffee, I turned the TV on to find "A Christmas Carol" on the tube, the 1938 version. I love Dickens, especially A Christmas Carol. Every year I think I must watch at least 4 versions, some twice. Ever since I was a kid, I loved this story. When I was young we would go to my aunts house for Christmas eve and every year they would play A Christmas Carol on Christmas eve, I wouldn't leave until I saw the ghost of Christmas past, I thought of her as an angel. I was just mesmerized by her glow.

Some of my favorite movies at this time of year are:

A Christmas Carol, several versions
The Bishops Wife
Great Expectations

What are your favorite Christmas time movies?

I love Photoshop!

Another color job in Photoshop.

I love Photoshop!

Playing around with Photoshop. I kind of like this.

Practice, Practice, Practice!!

These are the ones I used Photoshop to change a bit.

Practice, Practice, Practice!!

Between B'day celebrations and Thanksgiving I've took time to practice my faces. I used chalks, watercolors, acrylics and graphite. I played with Photoshop to change some line colors on some sketches

Practice, Practice, Practice!!

This is a 5x7 piece of watercolor paper that I had attempted to rubber stamp on, but it didn't work, so I gessoed it over and did a little whimsie and some rubber stamping and collage.

Practice, Practice, Practice!!

I really like whimsies, so when I sketched this one it just sort of went that way. Oh, well.

Fabulous Faces Week 1 Practice

This morning I watched the 1st video of Fabulous Faces, and this is the sketch I did while watching the video. The homework for this week is to create a front-faced portrait and play with lighting & different types of shading.

Fabulous Faces videos are from Willowing.ning.com

He Thought He Could Fly

My on going practice making whimsies, and I do need practice.
The paper didn't hold up as well as I had hoped, even though it said it was for watercolor. Well Mixed Media/Watercolor. Maybe I need to let dry between layers. Oh well, live and learn. I used a rubber stamp on printed paper for the wings.

Friday, October 29, 2010

I called this one "Tick Tock", I used watercolor pencils and rubber stamps.

This one is watercolors pencils and I used a fabric flower for her hair.
I titled this one "My Time"

I'm Free

Another Whimsie, watercolors, computer generated text, digital grass.

Her 3 passions were Bullfighting, the Loteria and Frida Kahlo

Another watercolor, working on ears and noses.
My first Whimsie. Watercolor with digital background. Still working on it and others, practice, practice.

She was a Frida fan

This is a practice drawing, I used watercolors and a rubber stamp. The paper was not quite suited for watercolor, but oh well.

It is my time

A big thank you to Tam and the Willowing and Artist Friends free Art, Heart and Healing online course. This is from the 1st lesson.
